God exists!
We live in a world and a generation that if falling away rapidly from the knowledge of God. When we speak of God today there is a necessity to be clear as to which God is being referred to.
If we are not certain that God exists, and that Jesus Christ/Yeshua the Messiah is real and the only way to know God the Father, then we will not be capable of overcoming the fear of confessing Him and that salvation comes only through faith in His blood shed on the cross for our sins. (Rev 6:9; 12:10-12) Even some of the Apostles had doubts after His resurrection, but once they knew for certain, and then baptized by the Holy Spirit, they were bold and clear of who God is and rejoiced to suffer and be killed for the Truth.
The Word of God tells us through the Apostle Peter to always be ready to give a defense of the hope that is in us. We are to do this with our hearts sanctified, and with meekness and fear of God, but not the fear of man or of Satan. In the fear of God we overcome our fear of a negative reaction, and we defend the truth of our faith in hope that the one asking, even threatening, may repent and believe the truth, and so be saved, rather than receive the judgment for unbelief. (1Pt 3:13-17; Jn 3:16-19) Our defense of our faith (apologetics) in God is not always under duress, but often just in meeting someone, or speaking to a group, that really wants to know that it is true; at other times with those whose hope is that it is not true. Inside them they know that it could be a matter of life and death, but prefer to believe that it really does not matter in the end. (Rom 2:1-11)
The questions that probably everyone in the world asks is: “Is there really a God?” “Does God really exist? If so, where is He, and who is He?” (Prov 30:4 God is asking us.)
Where does this question come from? If God does not exist, why is this a question at all?! It’s written that “the natural man cannot accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolish to him; nor can he know them, for they are spiritually discerned”. (1Cor 2:14; Is 55:8-9) We all know that this is a true statement in our own lives…until we repented from our unbelief and believed, and we were born-again by the Word and Spirit of God.
God is invisible, and can only be known through revelation, which is seen and known through faith. (Ex 33:18-23; Dt 4:12,15; Job 9:10-12; Ps 18:9-11; Jn 14:6-9; Jn 1:18; Mt 11:25-30; Lk 11:20-24; Mt 16:13-17; Col 1:15-17) YHVH God (in the person of Yeshua, the Son of Mary, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, the Son of Adam, the Son of God) “was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came unto His own [Jewish people], and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gives the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name: who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (Gen 3:15; Is 7:14; Jn 1:10-13)
Once we believe and know, we see all around us in the creation and in life that there is much evidence that God really exists, and that He is the living God. The resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah/Jesus Christ/Yasua al-Masih is historical fact with hundreds of witnesses, and written as so in the New Testament by eye-witnesses! (Jn 20:28-31; 1Jn 1:1-4; 2Pt 1:16-21) The God who created the Heavens and the Earth and the seas, and all that is in them is a supernatural God, and “proof” of Him is not scientific for the natural mind, but revelatory through faith in Him, and in all that is written in the Bible for our knowledge of Him, and for how He wants us to live because we do believe and know that He is true, and that He alone is the one true God. (Gen 1 – 2; Neh 9:5-8; Rev 10:5-7; 2Tim 3:16-17) The triunity of the one God YHVH is a revelation to be believed; it is not something that the natural man can make up or accept, and to expect others to believe. When we believe the revelation, we see it all through the Word of God and in the Man Christ Jesus. (Gen 1:1 in the Heb; Dt 6:4-5 in the Heb; Is 48:16; Gen 19:23-26; Mt 28:19)
Have you ever met anyone that hates God, but doesn’t think that He even exists? There are people like that, just as there are those who believe, or hope, but are confused that God exists but live as if He does not. There is no real fear of a God who will judge each and every person after his/her life with eternal consequences. (Acts 17:22-31; Is 33:22; Num 22 – 24; Jude 1:11; Rev 2:14) There are even those who do know God and have witnessed His mighty acts, but reject and hate Him for who He is. (Ex 5:1-9; 32; 1Kg 18:16-40; Jn 15:18-26; Jn 3:16-21; Rev 9:20-21; 13:5-8) And there are those who fear God and do righteousness, hoping to be judged as “good enough”, but do not know Him personally, only rumors about Him. (Job 38 – 39; 42:1-6; Is 53:1; Jn 3:1-21; 4:19-26; Acts 10:1-2, 34–35) I used to be like the last two descriptions – double-minded — until I knew, by the grace and mercies of the one true living God – the Father and His Son Jesus Christ/Yeshua the Messiah. (Prov 30:4; Jn 17:3)
He is the Creator of the Universe, and His Name is YHVH, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob/Israel. (Ex 3:9-15) God is: He is I AM: He is and He was and He is to come. He is the Living One; and He died, and, behold, He lives forevermore! There is no GOD besides Him! (Is 40:18-31; 43:7-15; 44:6-8; Rev 1:8, 17-18; 4:8-11)
And once you know, you agree with David, a man after YHVH God’s heart, who writes: “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; there is none who does good. YHVH looks down from Heaven upon the children of Adam to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside; they have together become corrupt; there are none who does good, no, not one.” (Ps 14:1-3; 1Sam 13:14; Acts 13:22)
The fool says that there is no God (with a capital G) – the God of gods — who is sovereign over all things. (Ps 136:1-9) Yet, the Scriptures tell us that the Creator God has put it into the hearts of every man to search for Him with all their heart that they might find the invisible God. And the Bible, which claims to be the Word of this God, also tells us that the creation all around, above, below us leaves no one any excuse to not believe that God exists. (Ecc 1; 3:9; Acts 17:26-28; Rom 1:18-25; Ps 19:1-6)
Where did God come from? That is a very good question, and one day those who believe in Him and love Him can ask Him if there is an answer to that question! 😊 But, if God was created, then that Being would be God; and where did He come from? Mary, the mother of Yeshua/Jesus, is called by some Christians the Mother of God. The Bible never calls her the Mother of God, but the Mother of Yeshua/Jesus, who would be called the Son of God. If Mary was the Mother of God, then she would be God; and she is not: she, too, needed her unique Son to be her Savior, like the rest of sinful humanity.
If the Universe – the Heavens and the Earth and the seas, and all that is in them – just began somehow from some spirit or from some matter, and a “big bang”, where did that spirit or matter and explosive composition come from? How did it “just exist”, and then produce or become what we experience today? Who controls the processes and outcomes? What hope does it offer if we do not know what/who it is, and, therefore, where it is going? Only the God of the Bible of the Jews and of Christians tells us how things exist; when that began; where we come from and who we are; where we are going; what is going to happen in the future; what is morally good and evil; how evil will be defeated; how we are to live; how we can know Him; what hope there is for those who believe in this God and obey Him with faith, according to His will and purpose; how to overcome death in order to live forever. (Jn 6:66-69)
These are questions that only have answers if indeed there really is a living God who created and designed all things with a purpose, and who has communicated with living beings – especially angels and human beings – to inform us of His existence and sovereignty. YHVH created and formed Israel and called them to know Him and to be His witnesses that He alone is the only true God; Yeshua/Jesus, the Son of God, has told us that the knowledge of the true God is revealed through the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. (Amos 3:1-3; Is 43 – 44; Jn 4:22; Jer 31:31-37; 33:19-26)
For people who want proof that God exists, and that there is an eternal sovereign God Most High (El Elyon), the Jewish people are a proof on the Earth throughout their history, which YHVH has had written down in both the Old and the New Testaments as a witness and a testimony that He is the greatest, and without comparison, and He is faithful and powerful to accomplish all His will and purposes. The sacrificial death of His Son on the cross for our sins, and His subsequent burial and resurrection from the grave, and the giving of the Holy Spirit to all who repent and believe this good news are proof to those who believe. Without faith, it is impossible to please God; for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him! (Heb 11:1-6; Jn 20:24-31)
The first man, Adam, and his wife, Eve, knew that God had created them, and they passed that knowledge on to their children, and so forth. After the Flood in Noah’s day, he and his family knew that God had brought that judgment upon the whole inhabited world, and they passed that knowledge of Him on to their descendants, and so forth. Just as there really is God, there is also a real Devil who rebels against Him and lies about Him. People have a choice to make, just as the angels did, whether they will believe in and obey the Creator, or whether they will choose not to. God the Father offers forgiveness and salvation for those who believe in and love His beloved Son, Jesus the Messiah; Satan offers nothing but false expecations and death.
There are three, even four, visible witnesses in history given to the world to know, and to believe, that a sovereign Creator God exists: all of creation itself; the survival of the Jewish people and their land; the death and resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah/Jesus Christ; and Holy Spirit born-again Christian believers.
Since there is a question and some doubt in that question of God’s existence, let’s answer with another question: which way do you choose to go — the wide road of the majority to eternal existence separated from the living God of Life; or, the narrow way of the relatively few (the remnant of overcomers) who follow Yeshua/Jesus to eternal life in the Kingdom of God? (Mt 7:13-14) There is this mystery which the invisible God has given to mankind to seek the solution to, and having found the truth, to love Him with a whole heart, thanking and praising and worshipping His holy Name, both now and forevermore. (Is 55:6-7; Jn 14:6-21; Rev 5:8-14)
Let’s be ready to confess the good confession of who the true God and His Son is. We have the promise of eternal life with our wonderful and faithful Lord and God. Yeshua lives; He rose from the grave; He gave us His Spirit to join us to God forever!
