Israel to hold public transportation fares steady until 2027 after inter-ministry agreement
Israel’s Transportation and Finance ministries agreed Monday to freeze public transport fares until 2027, a move approved by the Knesset’s Economics Committee.
The freeze is conditional on passage of the state budget; otherwise, an alternative funding source of about NIS 20 million per month would be needed, a Transportation Ministry official said.
Fares had been set to rise in April and June, with the blocked hike expected to raise prices by 12%.
