Houthis threaten new attacks on US vessels if Washington strikes Iran
The Houthis are making operational preparations to resume attacks on American vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea if the U.S. strikes Iran, according to intelligence conveyed to the U.S. administration by a source from a Yemeni faction fighting against the Houthis, Kan Reshet Bet Radio reported on Wednesday.
The same source said information was passed to Washington regarding the movement of military assets, including missile and drone stockpiles, in preparation for a possible strike on American targets.
The factions also report heightened discussions recently within the Houthis’ military echelon as part of preparations to renew attacks along international trade routes.
The Houthis in Yemen have refrained from attacking American vessels since last May, when they came to an agreement with the Trump administration through Omani mediation, following two months of U.S. strikes against them.
Despite the agreement, it is estimated that a direct American attack on Iranian territory would most likely lead to a resumption of attacks on trade routes.
There are already signs of this preparation on the ground, with the Houthis signaling their intentions through leaks to media outlets affiliated with the pro-Iranian axis.
