IDF tightens restrictions against harmful waste-burning in Judea and Samaria
The IDF announced it will take new measures to combat the threat posed by the burning of waste in Judea and Samaria.
Maj.-Gen. Avi Bluth, who heads the IDF Central Command, which is responsible for the region, signed a new amendment after being instructed by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Israeli media reported.
The Ministry of Defense said the new order allows the administrative seizure and confiscation of vehicles, equipment, and other means used to transport waste, carry out arson, or illegally dump waste.
It noted that these activities cause severe pollution, harm public health, and thus pose a danger to Israeli citizens.
Katz said, “My instruction to the IDF is clear: to implement the order and enforce it aggressively against any offender who takes part in the threat of waste burning, until the phenomenon is eradicated.”
