Iranian officials say merciless crackdown on protests was ordered by Khamenei
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered the Supreme National Security Council on January 9 to suppress the protests “by any means necessary,” the New York Times reported Sunday, citing senior Iranian officials.
According to the report, security forces were dispatched with orders to “shoot to kill” and to show no mercy.
