Knesset bans hiring of new teachers with PA university degrees, citing incitement concerns
Israel’s Knesset approved in second and third readings a bill barring educators with academic degrees from Palestinian Authority institutions from teaching in Israel.
The bill’s explanatory notes say academic training in the Palestinian Authority takes place in an environment of incitement against Israel, which lawmakers argue could harm students, according to the Knesset’s Education, Culture and Sports Committee.
The law bars hiring such degree holders as teachers, principals, or supervisors, treats them as lacking the required academic credentials, and does not apply retroactively to current employees.
