Two months after leaving the coalition, ultra-Orthodox Shas returns to lead Knesset Health Committee

Shas MK Yonatan Mishraki is set to return as chairman of the Knesset Health Committee, months after resigning when the Shas party left the coalition, according to Israeli media reports.

The move comes amid expected progress on the IDF draft exemption law and is viewed as a possible step toward Shas rejoining the government. Mishraki will replace Limor Son Har-Melech of the Otzma Yehudit party, the report said.

Shas said the change aims to advance the “cap law,” governing financial settlements between Israel’s health funds and hospitals, adding that the party is entitled to lead a committee even while outside the coalition.
